Our Roots
It all started with a Monstera Deliciosa.
I had an IKEA greenhouse shelf, a Amazon humidifier humming in the corner, and rows of Barrina grow lights casting their golden glow. Every night, once my little ones were tucked in, I stepped into my own little jungle — Kaylee Ellen playing in the background misting leaves, propping stems, and learning what NPK stood for. I found my people online — fellow plant lovers who, like me, lit up at the sight of a new leaf or fuzzy white root.
The name came from my kids. “Mom has a rare plant obsession,” they giggled. They weren’t wrong — the name stuck. My husband rolled his eyes at the late-night repotting marathons, and eventually, the dining room table was swallowed up by leave’s. Somewhere between the soil and the grow lights, I realized: this was never just a hobby. I was OBSESSED!
The obsession turned into plant swaps. Before long, word got out and I was shipping boxes across the country. I planted my roots in the dream. I started working with some of the top nurseries in the U.S., sourcing the kinds of rare treasures I once only admired in photos. I’m still enchanted by every new variegation, strange hybrid, and leaf that unfolds — always growing.
The greenhouse became my world.
Rare Plant Obsession is rooted in my family, my passion, and the magic of discovery. Every plant we send is more than just foliage — it’s a labor of love, growing, excitement and sharing. We ship joy, wrapped in soil and hope — one plant at a time.
